How Our Counselling Service Works
Beginning therapy doesn’t have to be overwhelming or intimidating. You can get started today! Our process is simple and we will make it easy.
1.
Start with a free initial consultation
First things first: we match you with a therapist who has availability and experience relevant to your needs. Or let us know who you’d like to see! Then you start with a no-obligation 20 minute consultation, by video or by phone. This is your opportunity to discuss your goals for counselling and to ask any questions you may have about your counsellor or their approach, training, experience, etc. More importantly, it's a chance to gauge whether you feel comfortable and safe with your prospective therapist. This “vibe check” is really important! You can even meet with two different therapists if you aren’t sure where to start.
2.
Schedule the first counselling session
Once you’ve asked all your questions and decided to proceed, you'll schedule your first 50 minute counselling session with your new therapist. Whether you're seeking short-term support or long-term transformation, the pace and frequency of sessions are determined by your needs. We have counsellors available daytimes, evenings, and weekends.
3.
Ongoing therapy tailored to your needs
Change often takes time. Some people come weekly, some bi-weekly, and some book in as needed. You're welcome to attend just a few sessions, but in general we find that investing in longer-term counselling yields deeper transformation. Our support is available for as long as you find it beneficial!
our core values
Our Core Values form the foundation of our therapeutic approach, guiding our commitment to providing excellent counselling care.
Empathy
We strive to go beyond just listening in order to create a non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely, knowing that they are never alone in the process. We believe empathy is a cornerstone of effective counselling, fostering trust and collaboration between clients and therapists.
Respect
We operate from a client-centered approach, trusting that clients are the experts on their own lives, and deserving of autonomy as well as support. We strive to create an atmosphere of safety and acceptance, and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to anti-oppressive practice.
transparency
We believe in fostering open communication and trust between clients and therapists. From the initial consultation and through the therapeutic process, we prioritize clear and honest communication, ensuring that individuals have a comprehensive understanding of our approach and methods.
