Choosing a counsellor can be a difficult decision, especially if you are going through a hard time. It is important that you feel comfortable talking to your counsellor, and also confident that they will be able to help you. To help you make a decision about whether I might be the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation, so we can get a feel for each other and you can ask me any questions you might have. I encourage you to listen your intuition about me or any other counsellor. If you decide that the fit isn't right, or if I feel that I am not the best person to help you, I will be happy to provide you with referrals to other resources.
I prefer to meet with people for 75 minute sessions, particularly for more in-depth work or for trauma processing, for which I charge $150. I also offer 50 minute sessions, at a rate of $120, for those who require or prefer that option. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to help make my services more accessible to those with more limited means -- please just ask me if you want to talk about that possibility. I can also provide referrals to lower-fee alternatives, if necessary.
Your extended benefits may cover the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor -- please check with your plan to make sure. If you are the victim of a reported crime, I may be able to see you through the Crime Victim Assistance Program. I am covered by the Arete Employee Assistance Plan, if your benefits include that. You may also be able to arrange coverage through ICBC if you have an active case with them.
I require 24 hours notice in order to cancel or change appointments. Cancelled or missed appointments with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at your normal rate.
You can download and review my Informed Consent Form before your first session.
Please note that my shared office space is a scent-aware environment, and we ask that you do not wear purfumes or heavily scented products to our sessions. This is in consideration of those who are strongly affected by such chemicals. To learn more about what this means, this is a good resource.
