Fees and Policies

Choosing a counsellor can be a difficult decision, especially if you are going through a hard time. It is important that you feel comfortable talking to your counsellor, and also confident that they will be able to help you. To help you make a decision about whether I might be the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation, so we can get a feel for each other and you can ask me any questions you might have. (For those who prefer, it is sometimes possible to meet in person instead.) I encourage you to listen your intuition about me or any other counsellor. If you decide that the fit isn't right, or if I feel that I am not the best person to help you, I will be happy to provide you with referrals to other resources.

The standard session length is 60 minutes, and 75 minute sessions are available upon request.

As of October 2017, 60 minute sessions are $140, and 75 minute sessions are $175 (these fees include GST). I accept cash, cheques, e-transfers, or credit card payments. My sliding scale is full, but I am happy to provide referrals to other counsellors who offer that, if necessary.

Your extended benefits may cover the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor -- please check with your plan to make sure. If you are the victim of a reported crime, I may be able to see you through the Crime Victim Assistance Program. I am covered by the Arete Employee Assistance Plan, if your benefits include that. You may also be able to arrange coverage through ICBC if you have an active case with them.

I require 24 hours notice in order to cancel or change appointments. Cancelled or missed appointments with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at your normal rate.

You can download and review my Informed Consent Form before your first session.

Please note that my office space is a scent-aware environment. Kindly do not wear purfumes or heavily scented products to our sessions. This is in consideration of those who are strongly affected by such chemicals. To learn more about what this means, this is a good resource
